The Kern County Water Agency (Agency) is proud to be a facilitator of Project WET (Water Education for Teachers), which was developed by the Water Education Foundation. Project WET is an environmental education program that promotes the awareness, appreciation, knowledge and stewardship of water resources. The teacher training provided by Agency staff features classroom-proven, hands-on learning activities that make water topics come alive for students. The Project WET workshop models activities that are practical for teachers, yet also engage the student’s critical thinking skills. During the practicum portion of the workshop, the Agency will supply teachers with materials to make many of the activities demonstrated. Teachers enjoy using Project WET lessons because they are designed to complement the existing curricula, rather than replace it. All activities are correlated to the State Standards for science, history/social studies and English/language arts.

The Agency’s 2012 Project WET workshop and practicum will take place on Wednesday, June 13, 2012. To pre-register for this workshop or for more information, call (661) 634-1424 or email sclayton@kcwa.com.
